Cluster Union “Bulgarian Outsourcing Association” successfully completed a project with European funding for the development of outsourcing services in Bulgaria
SOFIA (Bulgaria), Sept 11, 2015 -- On March 7, 2014 the Union “Bulgarian Outsourcing Association” signed a contract for a grant for implementation of the Project № BG161PO003-2.4.02-0089 “Support for outsourcing services in the cluster” on Procedure BG161PO003-2.4.02 “Support for clusters development in Bulgaria” co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund and the Operational Programme “Development of the Competitiveness of the Bulgarian Economy” 2007-2013, the project continued 18 months and was successfully completed on September 10, 2015.
A number of activities aimed at promoting and development of outsourcing services in the country, increasing the employment in the sector, increasing the expert and management capacity of cluster representatives, analysis of capacity and workforce in the sector and sector development strategy, were implemented under the project.
Eight new job positions were created in the cluster, which included director, coordinator and six experts in the following directions: knowledge, intensive services, business processes and information technology.
For increasing cluster’s staff capacity activities for participation in trainings, conferences and events were conducted which to support team professional development; the activities were an excellent opportunity to promote the association, its activities and positioning Bulgaria as a leading global outsourcing destination. Cluster representatives participated in international forums such as the annual event of the Outsourcing Association of Great Britain, the annual conference of AMEC (International Association for the measurement and evaluation of communication), events of Gartner Inc. - Gartner Customer Strategies & Technologies Summit and Gartner Sourcing & Strategic Vendor Relationships and trainings in project management, strategic marketing etc.
For a period of ten months six events Roadshow type were successfully conducted in Burgas, Pleven, Plovdiv, Sofia, Varna and Veliko Tarnovo. The goal was to familiarize the local authorities and the representatives of education system with the industry and the cluster’s aims, to attract new members and to promote the cluster as outsourcing development center in the country.
As a result, the project attracted three leading universities as associated members of the association - Technical University - Sofia, Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski”, and Veliko Tarnovo University “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”, and the number of full members rose to twenty-one.
A key project activity was the elaboration of detailed market research. The leading factors for the sector’s development were analyzed such as workforce, infrastructure, investments etc. The results of this study formed the basis for the implementation of the most important project activity – elaboration of a strategy for cluster development.
In addition, a new cluster’s website was developed. Regularly updated information about the structure, activities and cluster’s services, membership opportunities, information for the members of the association, current researches and analysis, job opportunities, events and much more were published.
After the successful project implementation the Cluster Union “Bulgarian Outsourcing Association” continues its active work for sector development and promotion, organization and conduction of events, preparation of studies and assistance to businesses and the education sector to increase capacity and attract investment.
